Wow, oh, wow, it’s the Oscars and all the stars are gathered together to see who wins the prestigious awards. It is a fantastic night, but I have to be honest. I usually watch award shows for about half-an-hour and then I end up working on something while I have the TV on. Sometimes I feel guilty spending hours watching award shows when I could spend that time working towards my goals. However, this year’s Oscars was different. There were fantastic speeches and some incredible, humble people won awards. It was magical to watch.

Here’s what I have to say:

I do not want to go over everyone who won, because I would not want to read that post. You can easily see that information online. Today, I want to talk about what I liked about this year’s Oscars. Like I said, I tend to not pay much attention to award shows, I watch a few minutes, listen to a few speeches and then move on. It can be tedious watching people thank people that you do not know and talk about experiences that you cannot relate to. But this year’s Oscars was different, it had depth and there were some amazing speeches.

There were many incredible moments, which is why I actually watched the entire show. I even had to take a shower, so I made the decision to take a quick one during a commercial break. That is how determined I was not to miss any of this. There were many highlights, such as Parasite (2019) winning so many awards and thus giving so many humble speeches, Taika Waititi winning for best adapted screenplay with Jojo Rabbit (2019), and Joaquin Phoenix winning for best actor for Joker (2019).

Sum it up!

I was inspired by the speeches given during this award ceremony. It is beautiful watching people accomplish their dreams by doing what they love. Some creators gave speeches that gave the audience something to think about and maybe introduced them to a new perspective. I love watching creatives talk about films they really care about.

Also, it is nice to know that I am not the only one who can give awkward hugs. The award show was full of them.

I hope if you watched the Oscars, or any award show for that matter, you understand that those people on stage are just like you. They may have more money, may live in a big house in a big city, but they started the same way as you: with a dream, believing in themselves, and taking a chance. Remember that, and use it as motivation. If they can do it, so can you. Now start working for it.

I believe in you.

P.S. If you want to watch some of the winning films, here are some: Jojo Rabbit, 1917, Joker, Parasite, Marriage Story, and Judy.
